Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about how LocateTrump tracks the president's location in real time using public news sources.

Tracking & Location

Where is Trump right now?

Our live tracker on the homepage shows Trump's most recently confirmed location based on multiple news sources. The location is updated automatically every hour as new reports come in. Visit the Live Tracker to see his latest position plotted on our interactive map with real-time confidence scoring.

Where is President Trump today?

The current location of President Trump is displayed at the top of our homepage with the exact venue name, city, and state. We also show when the location was last confirmed, how many news sources agree, and a confidence percentage so you know how reliable the data is.

How does LocateTrump track the president's location?

We monitor RSS feeds from 10+ major news outlets including Reuters, CNN, Fox News, BBC, and the White House press office. Our AI-powered algorithm analyzes each article for location references, assigns confidence scores based on source reliability and mention specificity, and requires at least 2 independent sources to agree before updating the tracker. Learn more on our How It Works page.

Is this real-time GPS tracking of Trump?

No. LocateTrump does not use GPS, cell-tower data, or any form of direct surveillance. We determine the president's location entirely from publicly available news reports and official White House announcements. There may be a short delay between Trump arriving at a location and the tracker updating, depending on how quickly news outlets publish their reports.

Can I see where Trump was yesterday or last week?

Yes. Our Location History page provides a complete, searchable timeline of every confirmed presidential location going back to Inauguration Day. You can filter by date range, state, or venue type. For a visual overview, the 30-Day Replay feature on the map animates Trump's travel path over the last month.

Does LocateTrump show where Trump is traveling next?

We focus on confirmed locations rather than future schedules. However, when the White House releases an official public schedule or a trip is widely reported in advance, it may appear in our News Feed before the president arrives. Our Travel Stats page also highlights patterns that can suggest likely upcoming destinations.

How do you track Trump's golf trips?

Golf club visits are detected the same way as any other location — through news reports and press pool dispatches. When our algorithm identifies a golf-related venue (e.g., Trump National Golf Club, Trump International Golf Club), the visit is flagged and counted toward the Golf-O-Meter statistic displayed on the homepage. You can see the full breakdown on our Travel Stats dashboard.

How do I find Trump's location using LocateTrump?

Finding the current Trump location is simple: visit our Live Tracker homepage to see the president's most recently confirmed location plotted on an interactive map. Our system determines the Trump location by cross-referencing reports from 10+ major news sources every hour. For past locations, use the Location History page, which provides a complete, searchable timeline. To understand the methodology behind how we confirm each Trump location update, visit How It Works.

Data & Accuracy

How accurate is the Trump location data?

Each location on our tracker includes a confidence score (0–100%) reflecting data certainty. Locations with 70%+ confidence are backed by multiple corroborating reports from reliable outlets. Lower scores indicate fewer sources or less specific mentions. We always display the confidence level and the confirming sources so you can judge data quality yourself.

How is the confidence score calculated?

The confidence score factors in: the number of independent sources reporting the same location, the reliability weight of each source (White House press releases score highest), the presence of strong location indicators in the text (e.g., "arrived at" scores higher than "discussed plans to visit"), and recency. The score decays over time if no new reports confirm the location.

What news sources does LocateTrump monitor?

We currently monitor 10 major news outlets: White House, Reuters, CNN, Fox News, NBC News, BBC, NY Times, Washington Post, Politico, The Hill. Each source is assigned a reliability weight from 1–10, with official White House communications receiving the highest weight. We continuously evaluate coverage and may add new sources to improve accuracy. See the full methodology on our How It Works page.

What does "Confirmed by 3 sources" mean?

When you see "Confirmed by 3 sources" next to a location, it means three independent news outlets have published reports corroborating that Trump is at that specific location. More confirming sources generally mean higher confidence. You can hover or tap on the source badge to see which outlets are reporting the location.

How often is the tracker updated?

Our automated pipeline runs every hour via scheduled cron jobs, fetching the latest articles from all monitored news sources. When a location change is detected and confirmed by multiple sources, the map updates in real-time via WebSocket — your browser receives the change instantly without needing to refresh the page.

What happens if news sources disagree on Trump's location?

Disagreements are handled by the confidence scoring system. If sources conflict, the location with the most corroboration and highest-weight sources wins, but the confidence score will be lower than a location where all sources agree. The tracker always shows the highest-confidence location and never displays unverified single-source claims.

I think a location is wrong. How do I report it?

We appreciate corrections. Please email feedback@locatetrump.com with the date, the location you believe is incorrect, and any supporting links. We review all reports and will update the data if warranted. You can also reach us through our Contact page.

What is Trump doing today?

Our Live Tracker shows what Trump is doing right now by displaying his most recently confirmed location, activity type, and confidence score. Whether the president is at the White House, traveling aboard Air Force One, golfing, or attending a rally, our system detects the activity through 10+ monitored news sources and updates automatically. For a deeper look at typical presidential daily activities, see our guide to tracking presidential activity.

Where does Trump live when he is not at the White House?

Trump maintains several residences outside the White House. His primary personal home is Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, which he uses as a winter retreat. During summer months, he frequently stays at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey. He also maintains a penthouse at Trump Tower in New York City. For a complete breakdown, see our guide to Trump residences and track which residence he is at right now on our Live Tracker.

Where can I find reliable president Trump news?

Our News Feed aggregates president Trump news from 10+ major outlets including Reuters, CNN, Fox News, and BBC, each with a reliability weight. For guidance on evaluating Trump news sources and avoiding misinformation, see our president Trump news guide. Our live tracker adds location context that complements standard US news about Trump coverage.

Features & Tools

What is the interactive Trump tracker map?

The interactive map on our homepage is built on Mapbox with 3D terrain rendering. It displays Trump's current confirmed location with a gold marker, recent location history with flag pins, animated travel arcs between locations, and a 30-Day Replay mode that animates the president's movements over the last month. The map includes zoom, tilt, and compass controls.

What is the 30-Day Replay feature?

The 30-Day Replay is a cinematic animation that traces Trump's travel path over the past month directly on the map. Click "Replay 30 Days" on the Live Tracker, and the map expands into a theater-style view with a gold travel trail, moving marker, playback controls (play, pause, skip, speed), and location labels at each stop. It's designed to be highly visual and shareable.

What is the Golf-O-Meter?

The Golf-O-Meter is a widget on the homepage that tracks the percentage of days Trump has been spotted at golf clubs since taking office. It uses the same verified location data as the main tracker and updates automatically whenever a golf club visit is confirmed by our sources.

What do the Travel Stats show?

The Travel Stats dashboard provides charts and analytics including: total trips by state, most-visited locations, days spent at each key property (Mar-a-Lago, White House, Bedminster, etc.), golf trip frequency, travel trends over time, and monthly breakdowns. All data is derived from our verified location history.

What is the News Feed page?

The News Feed aggregates the latest location-related articles from all our monitored sources. Each entry shows the headline, source name, publication time, detected location, and confidence score. It's a useful way to see the raw intelligence that powers the tracker and verify any location for yourself.

Can I search Trump's location history by date or place?

Yes. The Location History page offers a full searchable timeline of all confirmed presidential locations. You can browse chronologically or filter by date range to find specific trips. Each entry includes the venue name, city, state, event type, confidence score, and confirming sources.

Does LocateTrump track Trump hotel visits?

Yes. Our system monitors visits to Trump hotel properties including Trump International Hotel Las Vegas and the former Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C. When the president is detected at any Trump hotel, it appears on our Live Tracker map and in the Location History. Privacy, Legal & Independence

Is LocateTrump affiliated with the government or any political party?

No. LocateTrump.com is a fully independent project with no affiliation to the White House, any government agency, or any political organization. We do not have access to classified or non-public information about presidential movements. All data comes exclusively from publicly available news reports. Read more on our About page.

Does LocateTrump compromise presidential security?

No. We only aggregate information that is already publicly available in news reports. We never publish a location before it has been reported by established news outlets. The Secret Service does not restrict coverage of the president's publicly known movements, and major news organizations routinely report this same information.

Does LocateTrump collect my personal data?

We use standard analytics to understand site traffic (page views, device type, country) and do not collect personally identifiable information. We don't require user accounts or logins. For full details, please review our Privacy Policy.

Can I use LocateTrump data for my own research or news reporting?

Our location data may be referenced for journalistic or academic purposes with appropriate attribution to LocateTrump.com. For commercial data licensing, media partnerships, or bulk data access, please contact us at press@locatetrump.com or visit our Contact page.

Technical & Troubleshooting

Why does the map say "Location loading" for a long time?

The map relies on our API and Mapbox tiles loading simultaneously. If you see a prolonged loading state, try refreshing the page. Slow connections, ad blockers, or VPNs can occasionally interfere with Mapbox tile loading. The location data itself loads independently, so the text card below the map should still display the current location.

Does LocateTrump work on mobile devices?

Yes. The site is fully responsive and optimized for phones and tablets. The interactive map supports touch gestures (pinch to zoom, two-finger tilt), and all controls including the 30-Day Replay are touch-friendly. For the best experience, we recommend using the site in landscape orientation on smaller screens.

How can I get notified when Trump changes location?

We don't currently offer push notifications, but the tracker updates via WebSocket so your browser will show the new location in real-time while the tab is open. Bookmark the Live Tracker for quick access. You can also follow our News Feed for the latest updates.

The tracker shows an old location. Is it broken?

Not necessarily. If Trump is staying at one location for an extended period (e.g., a multi-day stay at Mar-a-Lago or the White House), the tracker will continue showing that location until a new one is confirmed. The "Last updated" timestamp tells you when the location was most recently verified. Our pipeline checks for changes every hour.
